When you think of beer in the Southeastern United States, I’m sure the first thing that comes to mind is NOT of the craft brewed variety. We typically pigeon hole the Northeast and West Coast as the craft beer capitals of this free nation, but as a Georgia native I would like to take a moment to shed light on some of the great craft brewed beer offerings of the Southeast.
Yes this is SEC and college football country that, generally speaking, celebrates and tailgates with mass-market light beer. However, we also know that any southern gentleman would be remiss to overlook the fine ales and lagers being designed and brewed in his own backyard. These fine brews are gaining in popularity among beer drinkers throughout the region so let’s open our senses to that wonderful aroma and let our taste buds frolic in the cacophony of flavors being mashed and boiled south of the Mason-Dixon and east of the all-mighty Mississippi River.
